LCHF Bacon Dip and Milking Cows

LCHF Bacon dip

We had such an awesome experience milking cows today… You know, I’m all about Real Food and today things got very real!
I’ll tell you all about it, but first…bacon! Ah – bacon, bacon, bacon
These LCHF Bacon Dip Lettuce Wraps are perfect for Spring – as a snack, light lunch or even dinner.

I discovered a small farm, Inyamazane, nearby that sells raw milk and other dairy products, and decided to pay them a visit today.

I was very forward and asked if we could watch the milking of the cows, and voila, we were in luck. We were to be there at 16:00, so off we set, a mere 10 minutes from home!

I’ve often bought raw milk and the boys know where milk comes from.
This might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised that a lot of kids think that milk {and eggs, meat, etc.} comes from the shops…
Anyways, they’ve never milked a cow before and loved this amazing experience. It’s such a privilege when children get to experience these natural processes.

Even though an electric pump was used to milk the cow, the boys each got a go at doing it manually.

I honestly thought Faf {my youngest, the blonde one} would be squeamish but he was a trooper!

We left with beautiful, 100% raw milk, some yoghurt and cheeses.
Can’t wait to try out my haul and hopefully do my dairy-shopping here from now on.

Total yumminess!

Seriously…

I could easily just eat spoonfuls of this dip too! It’s also great on seed crackers, but the lettuce really makes it super refreshing and summery.

Try it and let me know what you think!

P.S. Happy Spring! It’s only officially Spring on the 22nd though…but the warmer weather is definitely something to celebrate!

xx
