Oriental Smoked Trout Salad

A refreshing salad of mixed herbs, smoked trout ribbons, creamy avocado and an oriental dressing.
This Oriental Smoked Trout Salad is simply heaven on a plate!

I love simple salads that pop with flavour, and this is most definitely one of those!

It’s perfect for a light appetiser, or just make more and serve it as a meal.

With a mix of herbs and greens, this Oriental Smoked Trout Salad delivers the perfect combination of creamy avocado, buttery smoked trout, crunchy radish and a salty umami dressing.

Add a crisp glass of white wine or champagne and you’re all set for a winner meal!


Ok, enough funnies, here’s what you’ll need for this delicious, yet super simple salad:

Servings: 4 {as meals}
Time: 10 mins
Difficulty: easy

You will need:

2 handfuls wild rocket
two large handfuls watercress
2 handfuls fresh coriander
4 radishes
2 avocados
200 g smoked trout
oriental dressing – mix everything together by shaking it really well in a small jar:
4 tbsp. liquid aminos {soy alternative}
four tsp xylitol
4 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp grated fresh ginger
4 tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 heaped tbsp. chopped spring onions

Mix all the greens together and arrange on a serving plate.

Top with slices of avocado, trout ribbons and thinly sliced radishes.
Drizzle with Oriental dressing.


You know my kids; they really have weird taste as far as children are concerned… {Weird, but good ;) }

So, no surprises here, but they honestly loved this salad! They really enjoy all kinds of seafood and loved the trout; and avocado has always been a favourite.
I tend to de-construct salads for them, so that they can see all the different elements and eat it the way they want.
This works really well for us and I’ve found that they’re more likely to eat something when I present it in a de-constructed manner.
